Day 1: Discover the Alentejo Region

Welcome to Portugal. Wine Tourism in Portugal will invite you to discover the amazing Alentejo.

The private transfer is waiting for you in Lisbon or Lisbon International Airport (LIS). Enjoy the scenic 1-and-a-half-hour road trip to the Alentejo.

Check-in at the Mar de Ar Aqueduto - Historic Design Hotel & Spa. Located very near the historic center of Évora, this is your starting point for the best wine experiences in the Alentejo region. The hotel arises from the adaptation of the old Sepúlveda Palace, a sixteenth-century building that has preserved a magnificent chapel, vaulted ceilings, and a set of three windows in Manuelino style (architectural style named after King Manuel) in the main façade.

Then, on your own, discover the city of Évora - a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Évora's well-preserved historic center is one of the richest monuments in Portugal, worth the epithet of City-Museum. There are several reasons of interest to visit, the Temple of Diana, the Lóios Church, the Chapel of Bones, and the Cathedral are the essential sites.

At the end of the day, you will enjoy a delicious dinner in a unique place, Degust'Ar Restaurant. Located on the ground floor of the Sepúlveda Palace building, the Degust'AR restaurant has the gastronomic signature of Chef António Nobre. The menu has as its starting point the Alentejo cuisine, and the Chef develops his creative inspiration by exploring the Mediterranean flavors. The atmosphere is refined, comfortable, and intimate. The vaulted ceilings, the horseshoe arches, and some frescos on the walls give the restaurant a unique and special character.

End of day.

Day 2: Food and Wine

Breakfast at the Hotel. The Private Driver will wait for you in the hotel lobby.

You will visit Monte da Ravasqueira. Connected to José de Mello's family for several generations, Monte da Ravasqueira is located in the municipality of Arraiolos, one hour away from Lisbon, and covers a vast area of the typical Alentejo landscape. Monte da Ravasqueira enjoys excellent geological and climatic conditions for the production of the best wine that Alentejo can offer, taking advantage of its terroir. The cellar of Monte da Ravasqueira is inspired in Napa Valley, California, and is equipped with the most advanced technology for qualified and rigorous control of the wine-making process. All this process is controlled by a computer program developed in Ravasqueira. In addition to wine production, there are other activities related to cork, olive oil, honey, cattle breeding, and fattening of the Alentejo black pig. You will enjoy a visit and wine tasting.

Lunch is waiting for you at Dom Joaquim, a well-known Alentejo restaurant where you will find the finest Alentejo dishes.

Next Stop will be at Adega da Cartuxa. At 2 km from the historic center of Évora, a World Heritage city, and 200 meters from the Cartuxa Convent which inspired its name, the Wine Tourism Cartuxa is located in the former refectory of the Jesuit retirement home, they taught at the University of Évora in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. You will have a visit to the cellar and taste Eugénio de Almeida Foundation Selection, accompanied by sausage, cheese, jam region, and other delicacies. The experience also includes olive oil tasting.

End of day.

Day 3: Last day in paradise

Breakfast at the hotel followed by Check-out. The Private Driver is waiting for you at the Hotel Lobby.

You will visit Herdade do Esporão. The Herdade do Esporão presents itself as an Estate steeped in history, a producer of outstanding quality wines and Olive oil. The Esporão vines are located in the heart of Reguengos de Monsaraz, where wines are more balanced and seductive, simultaneously thriving and pleasant, luxuriant, and with good aging potential. If the vines are the lungs of the Herdade do Esporão, the cellar is the heart that beats to the rhythm of the harvest and as the result of the work defined by the calendar and by the enology team. Visit the Mill with a specialized technician and see the most innovative processes applied in the production of Esporão olive oil. Includes a technical taste of Esporão olive oils.

Lunch is waiting for you at Herdade do Esporão Restaurant. The Herdade adopted an enthusiast kitchen team that privileges the traditional gastronomy and the typical dishes of this region although not neglecting some contemporaneity, managing a cuisine that meets and exceeds the highest standards of quality and functionality. The wide terrace of the restaurant Herdade do Esporão ends where the vineyard begins and allows one to enjoy a panoramic view over a large lake.

After lunch, you will discover São Lourenço do Barrocal Cellar. In the same family for over 200 years São Lourenço Barrocal has its heart in a former Alentejo hill, surrounded by vineyards, oaks, and olive trees with granitic outcrops that occasionally appear in the local landscape - the barrocais - gives the name for themselves and their wines. The winery, located on the hill, is one of the crucial areas for regeneration, producing wines under the exclusive brand. The meticulous work of the winemaker Susana Esteban with the varieties Touriga Nacional and Alicante Bouschet results in a Reserva Tinto and other red wines, rich and mature wines, and elegant white, matching, too, foreign varieties. You will have a guided visit and wine tasting.

The drop-off in Lisbon.
