Day 1 - Évora

After the airport formalities at Lisbon International Airport (LIS), you will be collected outside customs and transferred, by an English-speaking private Driver in a Deluxe vehicle.

Departing from Lisbon towards the Alentejo region, at about one hour and a half from the city of Lisbon you will find Évora.

Check-in at Mar de Ar Aqueduto Hotel - Historic Design Hotel & SPAA 5-star hotel located very near the historic center of Évora, this is your starting point for the best wine experiences in the Alentejo region. The hotel arises from the adaptation of the old Sepúlveda Palace, a sixteenth-century building that has preserved a magnificent chapel, vaulted ceilings, and a set of three windows in Manuelino style in the main façade.

Day 2 - Wine Tasting and Sightseeing

You will discover the Adega da Cartuxa. Located in the former refectory of the Jesuit retirement home, they taught at the University of Évora in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. With his expulsion in 1759, by order of the Marquis of Pombal, the property became part of the state, starting a few years later, in 1776, working as an important mill of wine absorbed the wine production in the region. You will have a guided visit with wine tasting and regional products.

Lunch will be served at Dom Joaquim Restaurant. Traditional Alentejo cuisine with the chef's touch. A welcoming restaurant in Evora, where Alentejo food is always matched with a fine wine.

Next, embark on a captivating drive/walking tour to the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the city of Évora. Revered as a city museum, Évora boasts a well-preserved historic center adorned with some of Portugal's most significant monuments. Among these treasures is the Roman Temple of Évora, a crucial Roman structure situated at the city's highest point, originally dedicated to Emperor Augustus but later known as the Temple of Diana.

As you explore, be sure to visit the Cathedral, an impressive Gothic masterpiece constructed between the 13th and 14th centuries. Drawing inspiration from the Romanesque Lisbon Cathedral, it stands as one of the nation's paramount medieval cathedrals. Noteworthy additions include a 14th-century cloister and the statues of apostles at the main portal, a pinnacle of Portuguese medieval sculpture. In the 18th century, the chancel underwent a vibrant Baroque-style reconstruction.

The Church of San Francisco, reconstructed during the reign of D. João II and completed in the era of D. Manuel, showcases a unique blend of Gothic, Mudejar, and Manueline architectural and decorative styles. Notably, the Chapel of the Bones within the Church of San Francisco, constructed in the 18th century, is entirely adorned with human bones. Its entrance bears a famous inscription, "We bones that here are, for yours await."

Day 3 - Elvas and Landmarks

Head to eastern Alentejo, where you'll discover Adega Mayor. Your experience kicks off with a guided tour of Herdade, a cellar masterfully designed by the renowned architect Siza Vieira, housing some of the finest wines and boasting over 100 national and international awards. Following the tour, indulge in a delightful picnic featuring the finest regional products, all set against the backdrop of the breathtaking views overlooking the vast plains of Alentejo.

Then, drive/walking tour to the town of Elvas and Forte da Graça (Grace Fort) which is one of the most impressive monuments in Alentejo, considered by many historians as one of the most powerful bulwark fortresses in the world, both are UNESCO World Heritage site.

Day 4 - Wine and Culinary Delights

You will visit João Portugal RamosThe Adega Vila Santa, in Alentejo, part of the group João Portugal Ramos, invites you to enjoy the serenity of Alentejo while you taste some of the most renowned Portuguese wines. In the Adega Vila Santa, modernity embraces harmoniously the centennial Portuguese winemaking tradition. Some of the grapes intended for the most sophisticated red wines, where the production follows the ancestral rules, are trodden in marble mills and partially destemmed. You will have a guided visit and Lunch.

Check-in at Herdade do Sobroso Country House. Located in the Vidigueira region, it is bordered by the Mendro mountain to the north, the Guadiana River to the east, and an expansive plain extending as far as the eye can see to the south. For enthusiasts of wine tourism and synergistic experiences, Herdade do Sobroso provides a Rural Tourism unit seamlessly integrated into the vine-covered estate.

Then, you will discover the Herdade do Sobroso Cellar. Come meet the 50 hectares of vineyards of Herdade do Sobroso and visit the winery where you can taste and buy wines, olive oil, honey, and jams produced in Herdade. You will have a guided visit and wine tasting.

Dinner is waiting for you at Herdade do Sobroso Restaurant. Confirm how the art of eating well can be unique and unmistakable in the delicacies of the Cook Josefina.

Day 5 - Michelin Adventure

Your first stop will be at Herdade do Esporão, a prominent name in wine and olive oil in the country. Nestled in the heart of the Alentejo, in Reguengos de Monsaraz, Herdade do Esporão has been opening its gates to visitors since 1997. Following the insightful tour, indulge in an olive oil tasting at Herdade do Esporão.

You will enjoy a traditional inspired lunch at Herdade do Esporão Restaurant. The cuisine is modern in style and interpretation and centered on the product - Alentejo, Portuguese, and seasonal. In 2022, the Herdade do Esporão restaurant was awarded a Michelin Star and a Green Star by the Michelin Guide. This distinction was renewed in 2023.

Then, embark on a Drive/Walking Tour to Reguengos de Monsaraz. The enchanting medieval village of Monsaraz retains the timeless allure of ancient eras like few others worldwide. Crafted from lime and schist, Monsaraz speaks to us in hushed tones as our footsteps echo through its streets. Evidencing its history as a fortified settlement during prehistoric times, Monsaraz carries a profound legacy of military and religious influences, impeccably preserving its essence over time to the present day.

Day 6 - Herdade da Malhadinha Nova

Breakfast at the hotel followed by Check-out. You will be transferred to Herdade da Malhadinha Nova.

Savor a delightful picnic experience at Herdade da Malhadinha Vineyards. The picnic menu, served amidst the vineyards, presents an excellent opportunity to immerse yourself in nature while relishing a gastronomic selection expertly prepared by the chefs (drinks not included).

After the food experience, you will discover Herdade da Malhadinha Winery. The Cellar of Malhadinha Nova is traditional and sophisticated and brings together a unique set of characteristics favorable for the production of distinctive wines of the highest quality. Guided visit with wine tasting included and a 4x4 circuit.

Check-in at Herdade da Malhadinha Nova Country House and SPA. The Herdade da Malhadinha Nova is located in Albernoa, in the heart of Baixo Alentejo, and offers comfort and design in perfect harmony between Nature and the surrounding Landscape. Its concept is based on offering experiences wrapped in the theme of wine and Wine Tourism, Hotels, and Restaurants. Wines are the Herdade da Malhadinha Nova ex-libris and reflect huge respect for Nature and all the passion and dedication taken for their creation.

Dinner is waiting for you at Malhadinha Nova Wine & Gourmet Restaurant, signature cuisine led by Michelin Star Chief Consultant Joachim Koerper with the collaboration of the executive Bruno Antunes Chef and cook Vitalina Santos. They propose seasonal menus inspired by local gastronomy.

Day 7 - Beja 

Breakfast at the hotel. Enjoy the Malhadinha facilities.

Lunch will be served at Herdade do Grous Restaurant. The warm and ideal place to enjoy the typical cuisine of the Alentejo, where most of the ingredients are homemade, bringing to the table the native flavors and freshness of the region. The team combines the expertise of traditional culinary with the latest trends in modern cuisine. Its terrace offers fabulous panoramic views of the property and vineyards, making it the perfect spot for a delicious lunch with wine pairing.

Then, you will visit Herdade do Grous Winery which has the guidance of the renowned oenologist Luís Duarte. He is responsible for the making of the best wines of this Herdade. During the tour of the cellarsyou will learn the different stages of the production of the wine and enjoy a different tasting of the wines produced in the Herdade.

Embark on a guided exploration of Beja, where the historical significance dates back to the dawn of modern history. Although the site has been continuously inhabited, it was the Roman Empire that played a pivotal role in its early development. In 1 BC, Emperor Julius Caesar forged a peace treaty with the Lusitanian tribes, marking a significant historical event that unfolded in these lands.
